(World War II in Europe ended when Germany surrendered on May 7, 1945, and when Japan surrendered on August 15, 1945.)  The New Ulm Daily Journal printed a “Victory Edition” headlined:  ” ***THEIR LIVES HAVE BEEN THE PRICE OF VICTORY***,  Servicemen From The New Ulm Area Who Have Died In Action or From Wounds or Other Causes During World War II.”  A second list followed:  “These Men Are, or Have Been, Missing or Captive.”  A third “honor roll followed:  “New Ulm Service Men and Women Who Served in WW II.”
