Post 132 contributed $1,500 to help the New Ulm Fire Department  purchase inflatable kevlar air bag boosters for use in emergency situations.  The bags are shown holding up a fire engine with only 118 pounds of air pressure, The bags can lift over 83 tons of weight.  Rescue squads can use these bags to free trapped accident victims by separating twisted metal.  They can lift heavy or unusually shaped objects that regular jacks cannot lift.  The funds for the air bag project came from a raffle for a fishing boat and outboard motor during the 1984 Minnesota State Legion Baseball Tournament held in New Ulm.
