Sons of the American Legion

On Tuesday, October 31 from 4:30pm to 7pm New Ulm S.A.L. held its annual Halloween Trick-or-Treat night at the New Ulm Legion, and what a night it was!
Over 400 kids stopped by to grab some goodies from us along with parents and grandparents.
Spider-man was all over the place that evening, probably being the most popular costume. We had the Skittles drop in, the price is right and even watched our hotdog man being chased off by a couple carnivore’s! (No worries, they never caught him).

500 bags were stuffed by Legion volunteers a couple nights before filled with candy, coloring books, juice, cheese and other misc. Items.
Kids were also given a token for a free Taco or ice cream that evening as well as being able to grab a stuffed animal thanks to the 100’s donated by our community.

This event has been held annually since 70's and is made possible thanks to our community and the great sponsors that donate.

A special thanks goes out to the Optimists Club, The Candy Man, NU Legion, Riders & Auxiliary.

The remaining candy bags left over are divided up and given to places such as Royal Oak, - - - . And we thank our volunteers for delivering these!

The Sons of the American Legion is a patriotic service organization formed on September 12–15, 1932. The S.A.L. is made up of boys and men of all ages whose parents, grandparents or step parents/grandparents served in the United States Armed Forces during times specified by the American Legion. The Sons of the American Legion’s mission to serve veterans, the military and their families is carried out through its hundreds of outreach programs delivered by its members, volunteers and national headquarters. The Sons of the American Legion’s national headquarters is located in Indianapolis.

The Sons are a program of the American Legion and support all of their programs.

The Sons are the lifeblood of the American Legion Family. We strengthen the posts’s activities.
